The indigenous South African plant Pelargonium sidoides (Umckaloabo) contains a treasure trove of medicinal compounds and has been used for centuries by the Zulu, Basuto, Xhosa and Mfengi cultures as a remedy for coughs, respiratory tract infections and gastrointestinal issues.
