The Viral Screen from Immunosciences Lab is a blood draw test that detects the levels of four major herpes viruses. These are EBV (Epstein Barr Virus), CMV (cytomegalovirus), HSV-1 (herpes-simplex virus 1) and HSV-2 (herpes-simplex virus 2).
All four of these viruses can all contribute towards the development of inflammatory autoimmune and degenerative disorders (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s). High levels of antibodies in test results may suggest autoimmune reactivity which, if not addressed, can eventually lead to the development of autoimmune disease.
This test is recommended for those who are genetically predisposed to autoimmune disease, or who have a history of exposure to environmental risk factors (such as infections from EBV, CMC, HSV-1 and HSV-2).
This test requires a blood sample via a blood draw procedure which must be performed by a doctor or phlebotomist. Please see information regarding blood draws below.
Your sample is sent to Regenerus UK for processing and then forwarded to Immunosciences Lab in the USA for analysis.
How it works?
Turnaround time: 12 working days
Technology: Blood Draw Analysis
Find a Blood Draw
Before booking an appointment, it is important to check your test kit instructions to confirm if sample collection requires centrifugation. If it does, verify that the clinic or provider can accommodate this need when scheduling your appointment. Likewise, please check with the clinic or provider if you require a blood draw for a minor (under 18 years of age) prior to booking.
Steps:
- Read the instructions carefully
- Book your blood draw collection on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday
- If using a phlebotomist, then make aware of the 'Phlebotomist Instruction' section of the kit instructions
- Complete the requisition form
- Follow the ‘Returning your samples’ section and return sample via Post Office or Post Box
