What it is

Sintra Naked Body Butter is an unscented, vegan body butter made with just four skin loving ingredients – shea butter, mango butter, grape seed oil and arrowroot powder – and nothing else. It offers a nature friendly way to care for your skin.

How it helps

This natural body butter is full of pure natural goodness, with no extras and nothing nasty. It is a gentle combination of ingredients that is good for dry and sensitive skin and even newborn babies, with the added benefit of containing no allergens such as almonds or coconut oil.

Arrowroot powder is used to reduce the greasiness of the natural shea and mango butters. It does not take away the skin's natural moisture; rather, it softens the surface layer of the skin and makes it easier for moisture and other skincare ingredients to go deeper into the skin.

Benefits

  • Good for sensitive skin, babies, children and people with allergies
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Nourishes and moisturises dry skin
  • Unscented, with no artificial preservatives
  • Free from almonds and coconut oil
  • Vegan body butter

Ingredients

Shea Butter • Mango Butter • Grape Seed Oil • Arrowroot Powder

Shea Butter

Shea butter comes from the seeds of the fruit of the shea (karite) tree. It may offer mild ultraviolet protection (up to around SPF six) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Shea butter has been used in Africa and many other locations for years to improve skin and hair.

  • Moisturising: The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in shea makes it nourishing and moisturising for skin. It is often used to help with dry skin and to help protect the skin's natural oils.
  • Soothing: A study from two thousand and ten found that, due to its cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter has anti inflammatory properties. One compound in particular, lupeol cinnamate, was found to help calm skin inflammation. This can also make it helpful for some people with blemish prone skin.
  • Skin smoothing: Shea supports the skin's natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to help prevent drying. With long term use, many people report softer, stronger skin and fewer visible wrinkles.

Mango Butter

Within every mango is a woody kernel packed with nutrient dense fats. These fatty oils are pressed from the kernels and gently refined to create mango butter, a creamy moisturising butter for conditioning hair and skin.

Because it is rich in vitamin C, mango butter can help encourage a plumper, tighter look and a firmer appearance.

  • Natural source of vitamin A: Vitamin A encourages a revitalised, glowing look. As a natural source of vitamin A, mango butter helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and supports a youthful look.
  • Helps with dry skin: Dry patches, flakiness and sensitive skin can benefit from daily application of mango butter, which moisturises deeply. It also works well as a lip balm.
  • Lasting moisture: Mango butter provides a more lasting type of moisturisation, which can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.
  • Protects from environmental stressors: When you apply mango butter to your skin, you carry an extra bit of protection with you. This does not replace sun protection.

Grape Seed Oil

Grape seed oil is a by product of winemaking – once the grapes are pressed, the seeds are left over.

  • Protects against free radicals: The antioxidants found in grape seed oil, such as vitamin C, vitamin E and proanthocyanidins, can help protect the skin from pollution and ultraviolet induced free radical damage, supporting skin that is smooth and firm. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage the body's cells.
  • Moisturises and balances the skin: Its fatty acids can help improve the skin's moisture level by reducing trans epidermal water loss (where the skin loses water to the surrounding environment through evaporation). Linoleic acid integrates into the cell membranes to fortify the skin barrier and smooth and soften skin.
  • Vitamin E: Vitamin E replenishes lost lipids – the skin's natural fats that help maintain a protective barrier and hold onto moisture. If your skin is on the oily side, this moisture boost can also help slow oil production, which tends to increase when the skin feels too dry.
  • Soothing: Some studies show that linoleic acid has anti inflammatory properties and may help calm inflammation in the skin's epidermal (top) and dermal (middle) layers. The phytosterols in grape seeds may help regulate the skin's inflammatory response, which can make it a helpful oil to support skin prone to redness and irritation.

Arrowroot Powder

Arrowroot powder softens and penetrates the surface layer of the skin, helping moisture and other skincare ingredients go deeper. It can also help gently soothe skin prone to rashes, blemishes and sores. This versatile natural ingredient has a long shelf life and is used to reduce the greasiness of the shea and mango butters.

  • For external use only.
  • The body butter may melt during summer – this is perfectly normal. Pop it in the fridge and it is ready to use again. Any oil residue on the top is also normal.
