PQQ – Pyrroloquinoline Quinone
PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone) is a fascinating nutrient best known for its relationship with mitochondria — the tiny “power plants” within our cells responsible for producing energy.
PQQ – Key Features
- An enzyme cofactor first discovered in 1964. Enzyme cofactors are molecules that help enable enzymes that need assistance to work properly.
- PQQ is claimed to be the first nutrient discovered that promotes the growth of new mitochondria (mitochondriogenesis) in your cells.
- Stimulates the growth of new neurons through the promotion of nerve growth factor (NGF) in brain cells.
- This may result in improved memory, concentration, cognition and learning.
- Helps with brain cell repair.
- Involved with maintaining neuroplasticity.
- PQQ is a potent antioxidant - allegedly 7 x stronger than Vitamin C.
- People taking PQQ find that it boosts energy levels and stamina and reduces fatigue.
- PQQ is thought to be protective against dementia and Parkinson's disease.
- Studies show improved sleep quality and duration.
- PQQ has a synergistic effect when taken with NADH (CoEnzyme 1) and CoEnzyme Q10 (COQ10)
- Natural source made from bacterial fermentation. The source material (which you won't find on most websites selling PQQ) is a bacteria called Hyphomicrobium.
Want to Take PQQ One Step Further? Combine It with NADH
PQQ and NADH make a particularly interesting combination because they support mitochondrial energy in different but complementary ways.
PQQ → Supports mitochondrial number and function
NADH → Supports energy production within mitochondria
Put simply, PQQ supports the mitochondria themselves, while NADH helps those mitochondria produce the energy your cells need - view in our shop.

Why Are the Capsules Brown-Tan When PQQ Is White?
The reason the capsules are a brown-tan colour is because we use natural rice bran as the carrier instead of maltodextrin, which most companies use. Rice bran is basically a much better option than maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is highly processed and high on the glycaemic index (GI), and whilst small amounts probably won't affect people with diabetes and so on, we say why use it if we can provide a more natural alternative?
Suggested Usage
Take 1 capsule per day, at any time, or as recommended by your healthcare provider.
How Long Will It Take to Notice a Difference?
We would say try it for a minimum of two months, preferably longer. Most of the studies we have heard about seem to be based on 2–6 month trials.
